Senior Adults

Leading the Way and Leaving a Legacy

Our goal matches our church mission statement – making disciples here and everywhere for the glory of God! Our seniors are on the front lines of ministry in our church and community. We want to lead the way by the example of our lives, participation in our groups, and ministry to the church and community. We want to leave a legacy of faithfulness and fruitfulness in the Kingdom while having fun along the way.

If you are a senior adult (and willing to admit it!), we invite you to come and join us. The senior years have many opportunities and challenges. We do not go on this journey alone. As we learn from the Lord and lean upon each other, we are stronger together. Some can be very active and some are becoming less active. We have several ministry opportunities for our seniors and to our seniors at all stages.

If I can help you get connected to our senior adults, please e-mail me at dennis@fbcmel.org or call 321-723-0561.

Senior Adult Ministry Opportunities

We are excited to announce the start of several ministry teams with our senior adults. Our goal is to reach and minister to seniors inside and outside the church. Please prayerfully consider serving in one of these ministries.

Bedrock Rehabilitation & Nursing Center

A ministry to residents of Bedrock Rehab & Nursing Center at Melbourne. On the third Thursday of each month we lead a devotional service, visit with the residents, and encourage the staff. We want to set up visitation teams to go and brighten up their day and let them know that Jesus loves them and we do too. This goal would be a weekly visit. We will set a day & time, but you would be able to make visits at other times if our day and time does not work for you. We meet at Bedrock Melbourne, 1415 Hickory Street, at 10 AM for a 10:30 service.

Homebound Members of FBCMel

This ministry pairs church members with our members, that are homebound and no longer able to attend church or get out into the community. This ministry helps by keeping those homebound in contact with our church family as well as giving them the opportunity to still receive communion from our deacons if they desire. Steve Conn leads this ministry (semcon@cfl.rr.com)

Senior Care Ministry

This is a unique ministry that transcends our Senior Adults and includes some volunteers from other ages. A senior adult member of our church can call the coordinator of this ministry with a simple need and the coordinator will try and help them meet that need. Let me stress these are simple needs such as an occasional ride to the Doctor, light repairs, etc. Volunteers go to the individual and when possible, meet that need. JoRene Medley leads this ministry.

Port Canaveral Ministry

Formerly known as the Seafarers Ministry, we go on the first Friday of each month and provide a meal, encouragement, and the gospel to those serving onboard the various ships docked at Port Canaveral. Janette Sharpe leads this ministry.

Wednesday Night Supper Team

If you come to eat dinner here on Wednesday night and have a cheerful heart this may be the ministry for you. Those that serve in this ministry notice new people at dinner or if someone is sitting by themselves at a table take the time to seek them out and eat with them. Simply making those new folks feel comfortable and welcome, answering any questions that they have. If you don’t know an answer, send Dennis or Paul their information and questions so that we can reach out with answers.

Senior Adult Visitation Team

Senior Adult church members that visit our new members, prospects and those recovering from surgery or illness.
