PRAISES

  • We have about thirty wonderful volunteers from about a dozen local churches that regularly lead Bible studies at the jail.  We held a volunteer training in February, and I am thankful for the partnership we have with them.  Praise the Lord for those that commit to coming and sharing God’s love with the inmates!
  • New financial partners have come on board this last month, some families and a couple of churches.  We’re thankful for our financial partners that see the value of keeping the chaplains behind bars!  Although we’re underfunded by about 12%, we’re praising the Lord for our faithful givers.
  • Multiple individuals have entrusted themselves to Jesus in February.  I think of GR, an inmate that sat with me and had many questions about the differences in Christianity, Jehovah’s Witness, and Islamic teachings.  As well, TP and MM are listening to Jesus for the first time in their lives.
  • A female inmate, RJ, read one of my essays on the tablet, about forgiveness and reconciliation.  She wrote me and shared how she believed the Holy Spirit had used this time in jail, and this particular essay, as a catalyst to her finally having forgiveness of her father.  For the last forty years she’s been harboring rage from his sexual abuse, and drinking to cope with trauma.  I talked with her and she cried, sharing that this time in jail has changed her life.  She says she’s now free, and believes she can finally have victory over alcohol with the Lord’s help.

REQUESTS

  • We’re in the middle of Ramadan, the Islamic month of obligatory fasting.  Pray for inmates at the jail who are participating, that they would hear from the Holy Spirit and renounce their false faith the phony god of Islam.
  • I know I mention this quite often, but I’m going to continue to ask for prayer regarding the Jehovah’s Witness presence at the jail.  JW volunteers are daily deceiving inmates.  Pray that these volunteers either turn in faith to the real Jesus, or that they move on to other interests away from the jail.
  • Pray that we solidify a few more qualified volunteers to fill some gaps in our Bible study schedule at the jail.

APPEAL

  • Last month we appealed for more large print Bibles.  We got some, thank you for that!  However, we didn’t get the amount that we need.  If you are able to donate some, please have them shipped to Chaplain Darin at 860 Camp Road, Cocoa, FL 32927.  We only need English large print (paperback) at this point (no Spanish needed).  Thank you for your prayerful consideration!
