PRAISES
- We’ve recently brought in a part-time administrative assistant, Kristy. Kristy now handles much of the busy administrative work, allowing myself and Chaplain Nancy to do far more interfacing with the inmates, deputies, and staff. I’m able to teach Bible studies every afternoon now, get more counseling in, and write and upload more essays that are read daily by inmates on their tablets.
- We’ve been able to bring in a couple more volunteers in recent months, which means more Bible studies are being taught.
- Partners like you are keeping us supplied with large print and Spanish Bibles. Thank you! Thank you too, for everyone who financially supports the ministry of the Gideons. If you don’t already do this, consider doing so. Eight out of every ten Bibles that we put into the hands of inmates are donated by the Gideons. This is true at the Brevard County Jail, as well as in many jails that have Good News Global chaplains.
REQUESTS
- We have a volunteer training coming up in a couple of weeks. Please pray that our ministry volunteers will be encouraged, recharged, and will continue to faithfully serve the Lord by teaching inmates.
- I continue to beat this drum, because the deception continues. We still have a strong presence of Jehovah’s Witness members from the community that daily come into the jail. As these men are deceived, they deceive inmates, many of whom are naïve and want to believe that the JW faith is true Christianity. Pray these JW leaders turn in faith to the truth, or that they turn their focus away from the jail.
- The Muslim month of obligation, known as Ramadan, begins at the end of this month. Many inmates will grope at this as they are either pressured by cellmates, or seek to participate out of spiritual curiosity. Pray this time becomes a time of true spiritual revival within our facility!
