International Partner: South Asia

So many of South Asia’s 1.8 billion people have never heard the name of Jesus. God is at work and the church is growing, but there are so many people who have yet to hear the good news of the Gospel. First Baptist Church of Melbourne entered a partnership in 2018 with workers seeking to share the love of Christ in a specific area of a large city in South Asia. Our goal is to plant churches that will in turn plant churches. Sharing the message of the hope that Jesus gives us through friendship, prayer, and encouragement to believers are some of our efforts there.

Current Prayer Requests

(Last Updated December 11, 2024)

  • From our red-light ministry, this month one lady, S. – who came out of the red-light area and is trying to follow Jesus, seems to be flirting with going back to the red-light area. She is fighting with the other ladies in the ministry for various reasons, but really, it’s just that she is hurt from all her years in the area and is not secure in the love of Jesus. Please pray for her to trust the Lord with her whole life. Also please ask for her ‘husband’ A. to follow Jesus completely. He is very amenable to hearing about the Lord, but it’s hard to say if he really is interested from his heart.
  • Also in that ministry, F. and C. are looking for a new house.  Their current landlord is coming to live in their flat, so they need a new place to live. They seem to have only searched for places outside of their price
range. Maybe the request for them is for the Lord to provide something, and also for them to have wisdom with their approach to how they spend their money. Also, ask for them to understand the need for house churches, and to work towards starting them even from their own church (which has been meeting in their house, but as they have to move possibly will not be able to continue that way).
  • Ask for more women to leave the red-light area because Jesus gives them the faith to believe, and as for it to be a huge change in their lives.
